Statistical Roughness Properties of the Bed Surface in Braided Rivers

چکیده

Braided rivers are widespread in nature, and their bed morphology is complex variable. This paper aims to investigate quantitatively analyze the surface roughness of braided utilizing statistical theory. In this paper, a physical model developed, four constant discharge experiments carried out. Based on Structure-from-Motion photogrammetry direct measurement bedload transport using load cell, data rate, morphology, elevation obtained, facilitating in-depth investigation correlations between these parameters. The results show that morphological active width increases with increasing discharge. There was significant positive correlation although there considerable scatter due inherent variability river morphodynamics. probability distribution surfaces shows negative skewness leptokurtic distribution. relatively dimensionless rate. two-dimensional variogram values variable, anisotropic. Additionally, both longitudinal sill length exhibit an increase rise stream power. Remarkably, length, as well proves be highly significant. Consequently, can serve reliable general factor for predicting rate reach.

Equivalent roughness of gravel-bed rivers

The relation between the equivalent roughness and different grain size percentiles of the sediment in gravel-bed rivers was determined under the hypothesis that the vertical distribution of the flow velocity follows a logarithmic law. A set of 954 data points was selected from rivers with gravel size sediment or larger, with a non-sinuous alignment and free of vegetation or obstacles. According...

Effects of hydraulic roughness on surface textures of gravel-bed rivers

Field studies of forest gravel-bed rivers in northwestern Washington and southeastern Alaska demonstrate that bed-surface grain size is responsive to hydraulic roughness caused by bank irregularities, bars, and wood debris. We evaluate textural response by comparing reach-average median grain size (D50) to that predicted from the total bank-full boundary shear stress (t0bf), representing a hypo...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...

Statistical Analysis and Optimization of Factors Affecting the Surface Roughness in UVaSPIF Process Using Response Surface Methodology

Ultrasonic vibration assisted single point incremental forming (UVaSPIF) is based on localized plastic deformation in a sheet metal blank. It consists to deform gradually and locally the sheet metal using vibrating hemispherical-head tool controlled by a CNC milling machine. The ultrasonic excitation of forming tool reduces the vertical component of forming force. In addition, application of ul...

Effect of bed roughness on the propagation of negative surges in rivers and estuaries

In an open channel, a sudden drop in water elevation is associated with a negative surge. Practical applications include the ebb tide motion in estuaries with macro-tidal conditions, the rundown of the swash, and the retreat of tsunami waters after reaching the maximum runup. Herein a physical study is presented with a focus on the effects of bed roughness. Detailed measurements were performed ...
